The Challenge
Academic networks are unusual places – with everything you would expect on an ordinary enterprise network, plus the added complexity of thousands of students coming and going each year, not to mention their family members and other individuals who might be visiting the extensive campuses it is my teams job to monitor and secure. We lacked of a single source of asset and network context for our expanding number of locations. Multiple teams internally including security, IT and infrastructure were all tracking asset information in separate ways with some recording asset records manually using Excel spreadsheets.
The Solution
We have implemented Hubble as the main source of asset visibility and context across multiple internal stakeholder groups. We have leveraged Hubble’s ability to operated in a distributed manner, to provide visibility into all of the campus environments we are responsible for. Hubble is delivering this context both natively via the Hubble platform and via integration with external tools including Splunk enterprise.
